I wanted to share with you all my experience of writing and publishing a manga, that is also available on the internet for free.

I started writing my own manga/webtoon comic! And how I did it? is a blog post about how to start a webcomic on Instagram.

Anyone who has ever picked up a comic, manga, or webtoon has dreamed of creating their own tale, no matter who they are. Yet, for whatever reason, only a few people take the risk of realizing their dreams! One of them is me. After years of fantasizing about tales, seeing battles in my mind while listening to different music, and witnessing our society change in a direction that I did not approve of. That’s why I decided to give it a go and started creating and releasing Red Rapture, a manga/webcomic hybrid.

Let’s begin from the beginning.

So, what prompted me to begin creating my own manga/webtoon? The moral of the tale is that if you want anything done well, you must do it yourself!

I wanted to test whether I could accomplish it, so I went for the long version. I wanted to discover what kinds of characters I liked to read as a kid. I want to ask questions and look into concepts that I’ve always been interested in. Of course, I wanted to see amazing stuff happen the way I wanted it to happen. I’m constantly making up tales in my mind, but one in particular began to stay with me, and I decided it was time to bring it to reality. I’m in an unusual position in my life, which has allowed me to follow my interest.

While saying all of that was simple, really putting the pen to paper was a another matter. After experiencing it myself, I can tell that it is nerve-wracking and overwhelming to say the least. You’re basically a deity who has created your own universe, and you need to know everything there is to know about it. You’re in charge of the characters, lore, worldbuilding, power structure (if any), storyline, and everything else. You are no longer the reader, and your experience has changed.

When told well, stories have the power to change a person’s perspective on life, which is something I’ve always appreciated about them. They have the ability to transport you to a world much greater than our own, instilling in you a feeling of adventure and limitless possibilities. When you return to reality, you take a bit of it with you to share with the rest of the world. You may leave a lasting impression on the world.

Negusa, a young kid, is the protagonist of Red Rapture, a manga webcomic. He asks himself every day, “Would God bless mankind only to watch it suffer?” That is the premise of Red Rapture: what would happen if mankind suddenly acquired abilities comparable to gods at a particular point in history, and how would society react? That’s exactly what I wanted to investigate. Later in the narrative, Negusa, the main character, is motivated to discover the truth behind the gift. He’ll discover how the gift has changed the world and the repercussions that have resulted along the way. What effect would it have on people who are fortunate? What about the people who aren’t? It’s an intriguing dynamic that I think should be explored more. Nonetheless, I won’t say much more since I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll end there. If that has sparked your curiosity, go here to learn more.

Apart from my desire to create tales, the actual world inspired me to embark on this adventure. Certain cultural changes taught me that the only way to leave a legacy and change the narrative is to take complete control of your image. I realized that relying on others to convey certain tales was a futile endeavor, and that I needed to take the initiative. When such tales are purportedly delivered on their behalf, they lack emotion and, in my view, do more damage than good. I’m sure there are others like me who are starving for a certain kind of tale to be told, and my desperation drove me to take up the pen to satisfy that need. And once that desire has been satisfied, I can rest certain that my children and grandchildren will not suffer the same fate as I did.

That’s why I decided to make Red Rapture available for free! I want as many people to see it as possible, to satisfy as much of that desire as possible. I realize what I’m saying is strange, but if you spend more time reading manga and webtoons, you should be able to comprehend. This is a fantastic opportunity for me to grow as a person and as a writer. That is why I have chosen to start creating my own manga comics.

So, how did I get started on my journey?

RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEAR A never-ending search for information! Everything has to be learned from the ground up. Reading a lot of comics or manga is a wonderful place to start, but you’ll also need to master the fundamentals of writing. To be honest, you’ll need to read other works of fiction, read books by previous authors, analyze parts of your favorite manga/comic, and ask yourself, “What does this work so well?” Essentially, you’d have to start studying manga from great authors (again, for most of us) from a new viewpoint.

Preparation is the next task. I’m sorry to break it to you, but the “writing as we go” strategy isn’t going to cut it for most of us! Prepare a basic timetable, a goal for your character, and any other characters who may assist you in getting to your objective. I can’t tell you how helpful it has been in guiding my own work. You can always make changes, and believe me, you will. You must be receptive to this. If something doesn’t work, don’t force it; rewrite it as long as it remains consistent with the mythology you’ve established.

Then comes the specifics, the details, the minutiae. Yes, the city, the forest, the cuisine, the culture, everything, even the fly (I’m exaggerating, but you get the idea), you’ve got to be able to provide them with some background and narrative. Everything you include in your narrative must have a purpose. Keeping this in mind will help you avoid making things up as you go along. Keep an eye out for speech as well, since it has the power to create or break a narrative. You want the universe to convey its own narrative to the readers without you having to explain it to them.

I’m no artist when it comes to art, but that hasn’t stopped me. Find and employ an artist if you have the funds. We live in a time where everything is possible if you put your mind to it. All you need is a strategy and trust. There is a way if there is a will.

To be honest, I’m still learning everything, so I thought writing everything down would help me remember and give me something to go to if I got stuck. Leave your thoughts in the comments section below, and if you’re creating your own tales, please share them with me!
